Gynaecology

Demand on gynaecology services has grown significantly over the past ten years, with an increase in births and growing complexities in pregnancy. Due to an aging population, women are living longer and presenting with gynaecological problems in later life. Current population predictions show a steady increase in the age and profile of women which will continue to impact on demand for services.

Cheshire and Merseyside has some of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the country. Rates of ovarian and cervical cancer are also higher in some areas than the national average.
